  • Application of graphite degassing rotor shaft (impeller), Before using the molten aluminium for casting, it is necessary to remove hydrogen gas from the melt in order to avoid bubbles in the cast aluminium parts. This can be done by using a rotor, rotating in the aluminium melt and purging the molten aluminium through the shaft with Argon gas. STA graphite degassing rotor and exhibit exceptional wear and oxidation resistance compared to a graphite rotor. They assure stable high hydrogen removal efficiency and have a long lifetime. The excellent thermal shock resistance and the original impeller design permit insertion into and withdrawal from molten aluminium without preheating. The original design of the STA graphite degassing rotor wheel results in high gas dispersability and makes hydrogen removal efficiency superior. STA graphite degassing rotor shafts and wheels are suitable for both in-line and batch degassing systems.

Graphite degassing rotors, impellers and shafts are widely used in depuration to dispose hydrogen of Aluminium.

During aluminum and aluminum alloy smelting, hydrogen produced by chemical action with steam diffuse in molten aluminum, which will cause inner structural defect to aluminum products. In order to avoid such defect, most aluminum factories apply dissolved gas floating method to purify molten aluminum. i.e. inert gases such as nitrogen, argon is injected into molten aluminum, and hydrogen will be brought to molten aluminum surface with spread and rise of inert gas.

Rotor and shaft set is necessary to inject inert gas and stir for degassing regarding both intermittent and continuous online degassing methods. Because of properties of heat-resistance, anti-oxidation, high strength and non- infiltration, graphite becomes the optimal choice for material of rotor and shaft, which is named graphite rotor/impeller and shaft
